There’s nothing like a refreshing cold beer to quench your thirst after a long run or a relaxing yoga session. In fact, the two have been known to pair quite well together, giving Switchback Brewing Company the perfect opportunity to give customers some spring events that warrant a well-deserved carbonated beverage.

The Half Marathon Unplugged is this Saturday April 8th, 2017. It’s organized by RunVermont and presented by Switchback. The finish line on Flynn Avenue conveniently puts runners right at the brewery after party where they get to enjoy one complimentary beer and various food offerings. After running 13.1 miles along Lake Champlain while battling potentially chilly spring temperatures and wind, we can’t think of a better way to refuel and recover. Read more about the event here.

Stretch and Sip in the Switchback Taproom

Stretch and SipCheck out Switchback’s recurring “Stretch and Sip” events that take place one Sunday a month. The session happens right in the tap room and you simply have to BYOM- bring your own mat. After a 60-minute Vinyasa flow class that allows you to relax and unwind, you get to enjoy a pint or flight of your choice that’s included in your $20 registration fee. Maybe you’ll even try your luck at balancing in tree pose while sipping your way through a sampler. Not a bad way to wrap up a weekend and prepare for the work week ahead! Check their Facebook page to learn how to sign up for the next Stretch and Sip session.

If you’re looking to combine your favorite spring activities with your love of Vermont beer, be sure to keep an eye out for other Switchback events like these in the upcoming months. Staying fit while enjoying the beers you love has never been easier!

It’s that time of year again in Burlington, in just two short weeks the streets fill with gold, green and purple and the community comes together for three full days of fun and philanthropy! The Baker family is excited to once again be participating in this amazing event and we are so proud of our friends over at Magic Hat for putting this on. All events over Mardi Gras weekend will serve to bring awareness and support to the Vermont Foodbank. Over the years, Magic Hat Mardi Gras weekend has raised more than $250,000 for the Vermont community and this year will be the 22nd anniversary of the event.

About The Vermont Foodbank

The mission of the Vermont Foodbank is to gather and share quality food and nurture partnerships so that no one in Vermont will go hungry. Three locations throughout the state including Barre, Brattleboro and Rutland, help to feed the 1 in 4 Vermonters who are struggling with hunger. Last year’s Mardi Gras celebration raised enough funds to provide over 50,000 meals for our neighbors in need.

Volunteer to help with the parade and sell beads, sign up for the Fun Run, or buy some stylish Mardi Gras beads.

Do YOU think you have what it takes to take on the Spartan Race course at its birthplace at the Killington Resort on Saturday, September 17th? If so, we want to make this dream a reality! This years race is sponsored by Coors Light and we are giving away free race certificates.

Post your training video on our page by noon time Friday, September 9th and the best video submissions will be rewarded with free race admission! Winners can chose to compete in the Ultra Beast, Beast, or Sprint. We have ten tickets to give away so team up with some friends, or send in a solo video that inspires us, or makes us laugh.

About the VT Spartan Race:

“The Killington, VT Spartan Race has hosted three Spartan World Championship events. If you think you’re among the baddest of the east, we welcome you to come play in what is known as “Joe’s backyard.” This is where Spartan Race was born; and that means anything goes. You can expect steep slopes, off-trail descents, massive climbs, and chilly swims. The wonderful ski-town of Killington welcomes Spartans with open arms. Come see where it all began and witness the menace that gave Spartan Race its roots. Be forewarned though: this course has been known to destroy those not prepared in their mind, body, legs and soul.”

If you want to experience one of the most rewarding and challenging courses in the world, come out to the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont. While the climbs will have your calves and quads begging for a massage, the cascading silhouettes of mountains and the unpredictable weather will have you shouting AROO! as you battle for glory from the mountain tops.

Additional Information:

The race will take place Saturday, September 17th at 7am – 6pm.

The location is: Killington Ski Resort Killington, Vermont.
